Useful, original, source-checked.
Word Notes explains memorable facts about words, letters, and puzzle language. Every article is published by LimiLetter Editorial.
How we choose subjects
We select subjects with a defensible story and a useful connection to language, spelling, history, science, literature, or puzzle solving. We do not publish daily answer pages, definition farms, or near-duplicate pages made primarily to capture search traffic.
How we research
Articles prefer dictionaries with editorial provenance, museums, universities, government sources, scholarly references, and original texts. Claims that are not obvious should be checked against more than one reputable source when possible. Sources are linked on each article.
How we write
Word Notes uses original synthesis. Quotations are kept short and attributed. Uncertain or disputed etymologies should be labeled as such. Automated tools may assist production, but source selection, factual review, and publication remain editorial responsibilities.
Dates and updates
Every article displays its publication date. A materially revised article also displays a modified date, and its structured data, feed entry, and sitemap record are regenerated from the same source metadata.
Corrections
When we find a meaningful factual error, we correct the article and update its modified date. Questions about an article or correction can be sent through the contact method listed in the Privacy Policy.
Original analyses
Data pages such as Which letters eliminate the most words? state their data source and methodology. They are rebuilt from the checked-in game dictionaries rather than copied from third-party frequency tables.
